Shearing

Shearing, also called cut-to-length (CTL), turns a steel coil into flat sheets of an exact length. The coil is uncoiled, straightened on a multi-roll leveller to remove coil set, measured, and cut across its width by a hydraulic or mechanical shear blade. The finished sheets are stacked, counted and packed ready for your press shop, printing line or fabrication floor.

Sheets cut to your size, instead of standard mill sizes, reduce offcut scrap and handling in your plant and shorten set-up time on your machines. Good shearing depends on three things: flatness, square cut edges with minimal burr, and length tolerance held consistently from the first sheet to the last.

At Avighna we shear cold rolled, galvanised, pre-painted, tinplate, tin-free and TMBP coils from light packaging gauges to structural thicknesses. Every lot is checked for dimensions, flatness and surface before packing, and every bundle is labelled and traceable through our digital order record.
