Slitting

Wide coil cut lengthwise into multiple narrower coils of precise width on rotary blade lines, calibrated to the exact width a customer's own forming equipment requires.

01 · About the service · AvighnaSlit

What is slitting?

Slitting cuts a wide master coil lengthwise into several narrower coils, called strips or mults. The coil is uncoiled and passed through a set of rotary circular knives spaced to the widths you need; each strip is then rewound under controlled tension into a tight, even coil.

Buying slit coils to your exact width lets your roll-forming, tube, stamping and can lines run continuously without trimming, and removes edge waste from your plant. The quality of slitting is judged by width tolerance, clean burr-free edges, no camber and well-wound coils that unwind smoothly on your decoiler.

Avighna runs fully automatic slitting lines for cold rolled, galvanised, pre-painted, tinplate and electrical steels. Knife set-ups are planned to use the full master width, reducing scrap, and every slit coil is weighed, labelled and linked to its parent coil in our digital record so you always know where your material came from.
