What Avighna does with TFS (Tin-Free Steel)

How it is made

How TFS (Tin-Free Steel) is made

Base plate is electrolytically coated with chromium and chromium oxide instead of tin.

Chromium-coated sheet prepared for lacquering
Chromium-coated sheet prepared for lacquering
  1. 1
    Base plate

The same cold-reduced black plate used for tinplate feeds the line.

  2. 2
    Electrolytic chromium coating

A metallic chromium and chromium-oxide film is deposited, giving excellent lacquer adhesion.

  3. 3
    Lacquering

Because the surface is designed to be coated, TFS is normally lacquered before forming.

  4. 4
    Cutting to size

Sheared to can-end, closure or general-line sheet sizes on our lines.
